Fantastic
At the risk of sounding dramatic, y'all, Dr. Gould and his staff gave me my life back. My nasal congestion was out.of.control. Remember the scene in The Sandlot when they are trying to get the ball back from The Beast and they rig up the vacuum and catcher's mask? Squints looks through the fence and yells up to his compadres with his finger together that "the pipe, it's pinched shut," yep, that was my snoot. ALL THE TIME. It was to the point I couldn't taste anything that I ate and big bites of food were a gamble for this mouth breather if I couldn't chew them down fast enough. I had a hate|hate relationship with decongestants...while they provided me some relief they caused unpredictable nose bleeds and I would zoom around like a toddler on a sugar high....I'm talking resting heart rate of 85-90 all the time. Yep, good luck getting a good night sleep with that going on. And anyone I spoke with on the phone asked if I was sick...nope, just chronically congested, thanks for asking though. Went and saw another local ENT, they did the whole dog and pony show...allergy tests, try these allergy shots and meds and see where we are in 24-months. Excuse me, wait, did you say 24-month? Yeeeeah, no, so after about a year of this, we decided to get a second opinion....the clouds parted and angels began to sing when I happened upon the St. Louis Sinus Center. From my very first appointment, Dr. Gould and staff were amazing. Caring, patient and more importantly to us, willing to DO something. Insert my Balloon Sinus Dilation procedure. It was completed in the office, with no pain or downtime and I was back home and "moving" around in about 3-hours. I would be lying if I said it was rainbows and butterflies right away...there were a few meltdowns in the first few days following the procedure because I was still congested from a combination of the swelling and the re-bound congestion thanks to the nasal spray I had been using. Yes, it's a thing, and it sucks. When the label says to use it for no more than 3 days, listen and save yourself the extra days of sniffles. But eventually everything calmed down and in a week I was feeling significantly better! I'm currently 2-month post-op and I couldn't be happier. The difference is night and day....I can breath freely (even with still fighting allergies), my drainage and dry nose are under control and in the long run, I even think it will make me a better runner. If I had a spare couple grand laying around each month, I'd put up a billboard on Highway 40 for these guys/gals...GO SEE THEM.
